Details about the exact circumstances of Imtiaz Ahmed Jabir’s death remain unclear, and efforts are ongoing to gather more information. However, during the anti-discrimination student movement on July 17, he was injured by police gunfire in front of the university campus. Despite being taken to the hospital, his family—his father and younger sister—was prevented from visiting him by the police and BGB personnel. Jabir succumbed to his injuries on the morning of Friday, July 26, 2024.
Personal Life:
Jabir’s father, Naosher Ali, is a farmer, and his mother, Shirina Begum, is a homemaker. He had one younger sister, Jerin, who is currently in her first year of intermediate studies. Jabir was born in Deuli village, Ward No. 9 of Hajirbag Union in Jhikargacha Upazila, Jashore.
Jabir completed his SSC in 2018 from Bagachra High School and his HSC in 2021 in the humanities stream from Navaron Akij Collegiate School and College. He later enrolled in the BBA program at Southeast University, Dhaka, in the 2021–22 academic year. Neither Jabir nor his family was ever involved in politics.
