How He Became a Martyr:
On Friday, July 19, during a nationwide internet shutdown, Sabbir attended Jummah prayers and later joined a protest at Mirpur-10 along with his younger brother Redwan Asif, colleague Ishak Hossain, and four others. The situation in Mirpur that day was extremely dire. Around 5:30 PM, as they were chanting slogans, police began firing from a helicopter, causing the group to scatter. Sabbir ran towards an alley while the others moved in a different direction.
When the situation began to calm, his colleagues noticed that Sabbir was no longer with them. Despite multiple calls to his phone, Sabbir did not respond. Shortly after, someone called from Sabbir's phone, informing them that he had been shot and was taken to Heart Foundation Hospital. Upon rushing there, they found that Sabbir had already passed away. This is how our beloved Sabbir became a martyr from police gunfire.
